Who does the bride’s hair and makeup?
Who does the bridal party’s hair and makeup?
Owner, Jennifer Ruth, is the principal stylist who can be booked to do the bride’s hair and makeup. A bride can also book a Senior stylist or Junior Stylist. The bride’s choice of stylist is dependent on her needs and budget and our availability. Mink’s Senior stylists are Andrea, Ashley, and Elizabeth. Assistant stylists do the bridal party’s hair and makeup while the bride’s stylist prepares her and sometimes one other, usually the Mother of the Bride. What size of bridal party do you accommodate? We can accommodate any size booking as we have several stylists on the Mink team that can accompany the lead stylist to work on the bridesmaids, mothers, family etc. Can you do only hair or only makeup for a bride or bridal group? While for logistical purposes and convenience we encourage brides to use a single stylist for her hair and makeup, our senior stylists will do bookings where only one service is needed. A minimum booking amount may be required. Do you charge a travel or location fee? Travel within Vancouver and 10 km radius around Vancouver is included. Further distances incur travel/toll fees and vary by distance. Can you travel to Victoria/Sunshine Coast/Chilliwack/Other semi-far-off place? Yes, though travel fees, overnight fees, and/or ferry costs may apply. Also, depending on the distance of the wedding location, the bride may have to book her stylist for a full day at our day rate of $800+. Where do you do the trial? Our trials are conducted on location. However some stylists have their own studio space and we have a studio space in Yaletown (Vancouver) at the Soiree Lounge. Trials are by appointment only and usually take place on weekday evenings (or weekdays if you are available). We are generally unable to do trials on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from April to November due to our wedding and special event bookings taking place on those days. If you would like a trial during these months, please call to book your appointment at least two weeks in advance. What happens at the Trial? We spend about 15-20 minutes in consultation about the look the bride wants to achieve. We execute the bride’s full hair and makeup look, and tweak the look until the bride says “yes, I love it!”We then take photos of the bride and notes so we can recreate the look on the wedding day. The trial takes 2.5 to 3 hours total. At the end of the trial the bride and her stylist work out her booking needs and sign our contract and make the booking deposit.  How do we book you for a wedding date? A 40% deposit is required to secure a booking. Also, We have a lawyer-drafted contract that is signed by the client and owner, Jennifer Ruth.  How long does the whole booking take on the wedding day? We take between 3 and 4 hours to complete an entire bridal party and bride’s hair and makeup. We do not exceed 4 hours to keep the booking at a reasonable time frame. We bring enough stylists to make sure we can accomplish this. Are lashes included in your service? Yes, lashes are included in the bride’s hair and makeup package.
